Software Evaluation

Evaluated as by page 251 in our text.
The design of this web site is professional. It's very easy to navigate around and to read the text. Although it looks quite professional, the quote on the left hand side is very unappropriate and is bias. It also says it's from Newsweek magazine in 1998, which is very outdated. This site loaded very quickly and there arnt very many errors. There is an ad on the bottom, but it's related to the subject, "Bring the dream to your town". Dr. King was all about having dreams come true, so this ad is relating to that. (4)
Navigability is easy but some of the sites were not loading or no available, and this site is very bias. It's pretty much going against everything Dr. King stands for and is even bashing him in a few ways. (3)
Authority in the site is very negative. This site is hosted by a white pride group and it's not extremely fair considering Dr. King is african american. (1)
This site is extremely bias! It's hosted by a white pride group and it's obvious that all they are doing is bashing Dr. King. (1)
Citations are bad, there arnt many to see. (1)
Dates were very outdated some were over ten years ago. They need newer sources and some updated information. (2)
Content is very bias and not two sided. This isn't really a good resource to use. (2)
Links didn't really work as well as they should have were unavailible and some were fast. (3)
Handicapped access wasnt on this site at all, needs a new design for that. (1)
Rekevance doesn't really meet good standards al around was not a good site, i'd re design everything and go back and get new sources and better links and not be one sided about everything. Not a good site for students to use. (2)

software evaluation

Software Evaluation

Cost: I think that the cost of software these days plays a big factor into whether a school will take it on or not. Most schools do not have a lot of money to spend on a lot of different softwares let alone for a whole school. Many softwares have age groups and differnet subjects to choose from. Money plays the biggest role in choosing software as well. Abundant features and a low price makes for a very useful software.

Grade Level: It's much easier to have software that have various age groups. This helps school with choosing software that will apply to everyone. This goes from skill levels on math to difficulty in reading or doing word problems. Schools want computer programs that go for everyone, because if not then they'll be spending extra money for each grade level for more appropriate software programs.
Save Features: This is important so that even if students forget to save, the program automatically saves every few seconds of their work. Some students can easily forget to do something as saving a project and this will definitely be a benefit. Also if a computer dies the auto save will also be a good lifesaver. Students also usually like to work on their projects or papers more than once, so this offers them a chance to go back and edit or to add to their work.

Installation: An easy to install software is going to make everyone happy. Step by step instructions make it so nothing is done incorrectly. This allows schools to load and complete installation quickly and correctly.

Help features: Allow fast help online for both students and instructors. This also includes instructions so things can be done quickly and correctly.

Soccer math was an easy to use friendly software for elementary students for ages 6-9.
Tux math command was more of a game set up for elementary students that was ages 7-13.
Cosmo's play and learn playground had many games for various ages and was an easy to use software.
